Office Assistant

The Office Assistant serves as the first point of contact for the front office of Durango Nursery. Duties include answering phones, stocking office supplies, creating plant ID signs, managing held products, assisting the management team with a variety of tasks, and general retail customer service. This is a dynamic position that will perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks to keep a small office running smoothly day-to-day. This is a full-time or part-time seasonal position from March - October.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing excellent customer service as the first point of contact for the front office

• Answering the phone, directing calls, and managing emails

• Assisting customers with shopping, ringing up transactions, and loading material into vehicles

• Purchasing office supplies

• Managing all paperwork for products held on the grounds before they are picked up

• Managing cash registers, including end-of-day counts

• Creating and organizing ID signage for plant material on the sales floor

• Assisting with various office duties as needed

• May be required to assist with nursery tasks such as watering, pricing, stocking plants, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Retail or customer service experience required

• Some prior experience in an office environment preferred

• Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel, required

• Experience with a point-of-sale system preferred

• Experience with multi-line phone systems preferred

• Knowledge of horticulture or gardening a plus!

PAY & BENEFITS

• $18.50/hr to start

• HRA - After 90 days
