WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WATERWISE, XERIC, & NATIVE?
Waterwise is a term that generally applies to a landscape or plant that uses water wisely and is the mindset of many gardeners in the southwest.
Native is a term used for plants found in our natural environment. We are the high desert, or alpine desert, full of naturally waterwise plant species. Some of our favorite native plants include Colorado Blue Spruce, Rocky Mountain Columbine, Aspens, Mountain Lupine, Blue Grama Grass, and so many more!
Xeric is a term used to describe a landscape that uses Waterwise and Native plants to create a sustainable environment.
Check out our guide to Xeriscaping and how to install those principles into your yard.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EVERGREENS, CONIFERS, & DECIDUOUS?
Evergreens are very hardy plants that maintain their leaves all year long, regardless of temperature. They are never truly dormant.
For example, Spruce and Pines are evergreens as are Barberry and Manzanita.
Coniferous plants bear cones (generally as seeds), needle like leaves, "scale" or miscellaneous shaped leaves, have softer wood, and create Resin. Many are evergreen.
For example, Spruce and Pines are Coniferous as are Junipers and Arborvitae.
Deciduous plants are your common leafy plants that loose their leaves every year during the colder seasons. They consistently follow the seasons and are dormant during the winter months to conserve energy.
For example, Aspens, oaks, Elms, and all fruit trees are deciduous.
